For those whose water heaters had died an early death, there was Permaglas, the automatic water heater. The glass-lined heater with a long life was available at Rucker Ave. Plumbing, 2722 Rucker Ave.; Peterson’s, 2821 Hoyt Ave.; Haskell’s, 3014 Wetmore Ave.; and Hellenthal’s, 2526 Colby Ave.
Arlene Duke achieved the highest score on a test given by General Mills to senior girls at Lake Stevens High School. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Duke, she was editor of the school newspaper, treasurer of the Commercial Club, a clarinetist in the school band and a member of the student council, drill team and Torch.
A community garden was being planned at the Everett Multi-Service Center, 2731 10th St. The project was coordinated by 4-H clubs and the Snohomish County Cooperative Extension Service. People interested in helping with the project could contact Dave Lindberg of the Grandview Tenants Association or Rich Royston of 4-H.
All-state linebacker Wade Killian said he would sign a letter of intent to play football at Washington State University. He led Cascade High School’s defense.
