50 years ago (1956)
Officers for 1956 were named by the Everett Norwegian Male Chrous, with Carl Langland president. Working with him would be J. Henry Carlson, Thorolf Storvek, John Johnson, Olof Strand, Gus Tolfson, Fred Ness, Roy Haugen, Roy Kvangnes, Norman Heglund and Tony Knutson. Henry Ringman was director of the chorus, assisted by Emil Enger.
Lucille Weiss was announced as head of the Women and Girl’s Department of the Everett YMCA by Paul Peterson, chairman of the personnel committee. She would succeed Blanche Severson, who had been in the position four years.
25 years ago (1981)
Douglas Stave was elected president of the Mukilteo School Board and Alan Tapert was elected vice president. Superintendent Rodney Hermes spoke on the need for a supplemental budget.
Candidates for the Man of the Year were Jeff Knudson, Robert Shannon, Scott McKay, Chuck Nelson, Gary Price and Ken Johnson. Vying for Woman of the Year were Penny Aliulis, Ann Doherty, Lauri Shansby and Lisa Baughn.
