50 years ago (1955)
With work on the new Highway 15-A from Cavalero’s Corner to Lake Stevens halted until spring, motorists were using the route of the old highway and Vernon Road. A zigzag course was serving both Vernon Road and the old highway to Marysville.
Students of South Junior High School acted out the nativity scene in “The Song of Christmas,” the school’s annual Christmas play presented to the PTA. In the scene were Bill Mackey, Bill Loar, Gene Ordway, Susan Rowe and Gerry Nestfall.
25 years ago (1980)
Mike Price, a 1964 graduate of Everett High School, was named head football coach at Weber State College. Price, who also played football two years for Everett Community College, had spent the previous three seasons assisting at the University of Missouri. He had also assisted at his college alma mater, the University of Puget Sound.
Everett Elks 479 was preparing for its 1980 Charity Jubilee. Prizes included a 1980 Chevy Chevette. There was also a Tom &Jerry party and a no-host dinner with dancing.
