50 years ago (1955)
Four Snohomish County members of the Future Farmers of America were presented checks by the Everett Elks Club to help finance their trip to the National FFA convention in Kansas City. They were Donald Parrish of Lake Stevens, Louie Stongeland of Arlington, Kenneth Burns of Edmonds and Darrell Deane of Sultan.
The Beverly Hills Laundromat was under the new management. Bob Lutz, who had more than 20 years of experience in the laundry and dry-cleaning business, had purchased the operation at 6720 Highway 99 S.
50 years ago (1970)
First lady Rosalynn Carter was coming to Everett during a three-state campaign swing on behalf of President Jimmy Carter’s re-election bid. Her schedule called for arrival at Paine Field, followed by visits to the Everett Senior Center and the Labor Temple. In all, she would spend about 2 hours in Everett.
Ron Satademan of John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Lynnwood was cited as the company’s leading district manager in the region. Also cited for outstanding sales was Herb Oster of Marysville.
