50 years ago (1955)
A takeoff on the television show “This Is Your Life” was a highlight of tonight’s PTA meeting at Whittier Elementary School. Appearing in the show, emceed by Elwin Howard, were PTA President Bill Langus, PTA historian Isabel McEwen and Principal Owen Forbes. An address was given by the Rev. Emrys Thomas.
Lillian Larson was entertaining Beta Pi chapter members of Beta Sigma Phi tomorrow evening. Co-hostess would be Dolores Bragg. Lois Gienger, president, would conduct a short business meeting followed by a work party to complete articles for the coming bazaar in the YMCA. Mollie Wonker would give the program.
25 years ago (1980)
Seattle-First National Bank was remembering the past and looking to the future with their newly remodeled and expanded Marysville bank. The branch was originally Marysville Bank, Clark, Gould &Co. in 1891 and was located at First (Front) Street and Beech Avenue. In 1956, it became part of First National Bank of Everett. In 1961, it joined Sea-First.
Mike Wold, a freshman from Arlington, was named to the Athletic Association of Community Colleges All-Conference team as a first-team punter and place-kicker. Area players receiving honorable mention were Greg Kramer from Snohomish and Bill Roberts from Monroe.
