50 years ago (1955)
Four brothers received the First Citizen Awards from Mayor C. Arvid Johnson. They were the Weborg boys: Nels, Bill, Henry and Carl. They were outstanding pioneer citizens of the city. They came with their parents to Lowell in 1891 and later moved to Everett.
Possibly the largest sprayed outdoor Christmas tree in town was an 18-foot specimen on the California Street marquee of the Bon Marche. It was flanked by two 8-foot-tall trees. All were installed by Boyd Phillips.
25 years ago (1980)
Cascade High School junior Lynda Dart scored 20 points as the Bruins edged Shorecrest 48-47 in a non-conference game. Center Kris Reykdal of Cascade pulled down 17 rebounds. Julie Daggott scored the winning basket with 27 seconds left.
Seniors Suzanne Borgert and Paul Christensen were the students of the month for October at Edmonds High School. Borgert, the daughter of Bill and Margie Borgert, was student body secretary, volleyball team captain and band vice president. Christensen, the son of John and Geraldine Christensen, was a National Merit Scholar commended student, Model United Nations president and an Edmonds City Council student member.
