50 years ago (1955)
Mid-City Lumber and Hardware invited the public to a do-it-yourself show. Specials included 45-inch sleds and high-speed drill sets. There also were door prizes, including a circular saw, Fuller paint, Olympic shake stain and a Formica serving tray.
25 years ago (1980)
Rosemary Kacoroski, a Granite Falls High School senior, was awarded a $1,400 scholarship to Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass.
Lake Stevens Middle School eighth-grade student of the month winners were Colleen O’Conner, Ricky Olson and Kristin Potter. Seventh-grade winners were Kristin Alexander and Mike Eyman. Sixth-grade winners were Jeff Koehler and Heidi McBee.
