50 years ago (1955)
Members of Guild 13, Providence Hospital Children’s Association, and their husbands were gathering for the annual Christmas party. Mr. and Mrs. William M. Jenkins hosted the event in their home at 1203 33rd St.
Gladys Clink and Edith Stehl of the Dubuque Hill Toppers Home Demonstration Club gave a baking demonstration at Clink’s home. Coffee cake and rolls were served. The club decided to hold its annual Christmas party at the home of Rosalind Larson.
25 years ago (1980)
The vocation of Glenn Abbot of Everett was real estate, but his avocation was investigating claims about the Shroud of Turin, which some believe showed the image of Jesus Christ. His fascination with the subject took him to Turin, Italy. Abbot gave frequent lectures on the subject. His next would be in the Fairmount School Library in Mukilteo.
Kenneth Lechner wrote a letter to The Herald about the recent shooting death of former Beatle John Lennon. He wrote that it was the sound of the Beatles that set the mood during his formative years. Lechner was grateful for Lennon’s contributions to music.
