50 years ago (1955)
Scott Employees Fellowship Fund swelled the United Good Neighbor fund by $17,500 when its board of trustees turned over the big check to Jack Green, chairman of the UGN campaign’s Finance and Industry Division. Making the presentation were Harvey Rossiter, Edith Johnson, Bert Nelson, Corwin Knapp, Leo Wruble, George Startup, Evanaugh Rabitoy and John Carlson.
The two Gulls who played at the Everett fullback positions were Frank Hammond and Jack Leary. Hammond would start as the Seagulls visited the unbeaten Red Raiders at Bellingham’s Battersby Field.
25 years ago (1980)
Calling it a an idea whose time had come, the Edmonds City Council agreed to admit a student to its ranks as a nonvoting member who could participate in discussions. The student would be rotated among representatives of Edmonds, Woodway and Meadowdale high schools.
Gliders might begin using Arlington Airport for the first time. City supervisor Dave Crow said a special place had to be prepared for gliders.
