Raymond Dotchin was promoted to program director of the Everett YMCA, said chairman of the personnel committee Paul Peterson. Dotchin had been with the Y since coming from Pittsburgh in 1950 as youth director.
The assignment of Grover Unruh as caretaker of Marysville Memorial Park was announced by George DeuPree, commander of Marysville Veterans Club, who constructed the park. Improvements and changes were planned for the rustic area adjacent to Marysville.

Work would soon begin on improvements for three Everett parks. Wiggums Hollow would receive a new volleyball and basketball court and picnic shelters. Garfield Park would have a new drainage and irrigation system, along with wheelchair ramps. Riverdale would get a slow-pitch softball field.
Everett still had an old-fashioned drug store with a soda fountain. Oliver Vognild had been dispensing shakes and sundaes at Beverly Park Drug in south Everett for 47 years. The store had many of its original furnishings, such as a penny weight and fortune machine and a cash register that went “ring!” instead of “bleep!”
