50 years ago (1955)
A musical review of “Lost in the Stars” by Kurt Weill was presented at the first fall gathering of the Music Study Club at the Everett home of Agnes Holmstrom. Featured on the program were Grace Bargree and Howie Bargreen, accompanied by Laverna Kimbrough.
U.S. Navy sailor Arthur Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hansen of 5509 Second St. in the Lowell neighborhood, was aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in the Mediterranean in August.
25 years ago (1980)
Two Herald photographers were honored by the Associated Press of Washington and Oregon. Rich Frishman received first-place in metropolitan photo pages for his work with staff writer Linda Bryant. Jim Leo received honorable mention in metro news.
After a 14-year absence, Plymouth cars, including the new K-cars Dodge Aires and Plymouth Reliant, would be sold again in Everett at Dwayne Lane’s Walsh-Platt Motors. From 1966 to 1975, Walsh-Platt sold only Dodges and Dodge trucks. In 1975, it resumed sales of Chryslers. Now, all Chrysler Corp. vehicles would again be sold under one roof.
