50 years ago (1955)
Mr. Julian salon was opening at 2625 Colby Ave. Women were invited to see the modern shop with the latest equipment, including a new steam cabinet and electric massage chairs.
Jefferson School’s first PTA meeting of the term was held, with Julia Benson presiding. Sara Reniker was elected treasurer.Wayne A. Culver of Everett schools was the main speaker.
25 years ago (1980)
Everett Community College was having a film festival that featured eight Alfred Hitchcock thrillers. They were “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “The 39 Steps,” “The Lady Vanishes,” “Strangers on a Train,” “Psycho,” “North by Northwest,” “The Birds” and “Frenzy.”
The Sears stores at Everett Mall and Alderwood Mall were having a discovery charm school for girls 11 though 17. The eight-week course included voice and speech, fashion and modeling, figure control, skin care and grooming, hair care, wardrobe and walking. The complete course cost $24. Enrollment was limited to 50 people.
