50 years ago (1955)
Norman Egge had leased the former Follestad Nash building at 2625 Colby Ave. and planned to extensively remodel it into three retail stores. He would run Everett Music and T.V. The other spaces would be occupied by Universal Book Store and Julian’s Styling Salon. John Bryant Jr. and Robert Butterfield designed the makeover. Solie Construction and Pete Spadafore would carry it out. Edith Haines owned the building.
Larry Gourlie, president and manager of Graystone of Everett, was elected to the board of directors of Graystone Concrete Products Co. of Seattle. Graystone also had plants in Aberdeen, Centralia, Chehalis, Bellevue, Olympia and Shelton.
25 years ago (1980)
Mark Beales was named assistant vice president of Pioneer First Federal Savings and Loan Association. He had served in loan administration and had been the association’s community reinvestment officer.
Etta Rowley, optometric assistant to Dr. William Rowley of Marysville, addressed teachers and therapists during a two-week program sponsored by Seattle Visual Perceptual Motor Center. In her talk, she included excerpts from a book she wrote that explained the development of vision in infants and children.
