Members of the YMCA girls’ swim team were preparing for meets in Pasco and Seattle. Members were: Janice Mathis, Margie Bolton, Cecilia Stratton, Kitty Stratton, Leonne Davis, Mary Jane Kress, Kay Koffski, Marilyn Westover, Anna Cross, Karen James, Maureen Udman, Clara Fagstad and Elaine Johnson. Maryilyn Nietfield was coach and Gloria Oman was manager.
Kelly Morris and Billy Hill of Everett’s Normanna Little League team and Grady Perry of Lake Stevens met and talked to John Oldham, a promising Seattle Rainier rookie pitcher. The boys were among several hundred Little Leaguers to attend the “Everett Night” game at Sicks’ Stadium in Seattle.

Celebrations coming up in the county were the eighth annual People in the Park Festival in Everett’s Forest Park, Kla-Ha-Ya Days at Averill Field and Pilchuck Park in Snohomish, and Lynn-O-Ramma at Wilcox Park in Lynnwood.
Stovies Stove Shop, in business since 1921, stocked every item for the wood burner from the floor past the peak of the roof. That included insulated pipe, flashings, caps, storm collars, reducers and increasers, dampers, heaters, ranges, barrel kits, grates, lifters, chimney brushes and more. Stovies was at 1922 Hewitt Ave.
