50 years ago (1955)
Thomas Murray, manager of the Port of Everett, was named to guide the county’s 1956 March of Dimes starting in January. He succeeded Moe Michelson. Murray would be assisted by A.F. “Bud” Alexander, who was named city chairman.
July birthday people would be honored at the Elderbloom Club, meeting in the new parlors of Central Christian Church. A luncheon would be served, with a business meeting following. Anna Johnson was hostess for the day and Winifred Eisenmann was in charge of the program.
25 years ago (1980)
Scott Bader was The Herald’s carrier of the month. Scott had delivered his route since 1976 and had 108 customers. Bader was active in his church, and his hobbies included model trains and reading.
Mining in Monte Cristo had been inactive since the 1920s. However, there were those who predicted it would flourish again someday. Among them was William McCarty of Everett.
