50 years ago (1955)
Joe E. Bowen, for more than nine years general sales manager for the H.O. Seiffert Co., announced his retirement from that firm. Bowen had played football at the University of Washington for the late, great coach from Everett, Enoch Bagshaw.
25 years ago (1980)
Garry Pagon, Snohomish County Republican chairman, was at the GOP convention in Detroit. He was impressed with the idea of having Ronald Reagan run for president. Pagon owned a commercial real estate business in Everett.
A section of Beech Road in Lynnwood was to be closed permanently as part of the street changes for the Swamp Creek interchange project at I-5 and I-405. The closed section ran from the intersection of Maple Road southwest to the intersection of Alderwood Mall Boulevard.
