50 years ago (1955)
Marguerite Frolich was to represent Everett at the Children’s Theater Conference at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Frolich had devoted more than 20 years of her life guiding junior theater groups.
High school and college fashions would be featured at Chaffee’s informal back-to-school show. Rosemary Dempsey, Rosemary Jellison, Sue Green, Kay Prigg and Myrna Pierson would model formal and casual campus wear. Shirley Jokinen, Marcia Castle and Barbara Johnson would give hints for college rush.
25 years ago (1980)
The new U.S. 2 Snohomish bypass required moving about 2,000 feet of the Pilchuck River. In the past, that would have been accomplished by cutting a new channel in a straight line, creating a cheap, unaesthetic ditch. However an S-curve bed was created, and rocks and logs were allowed to age in it. Then water and fish were moved into the new channel.
