50 years ago (1955)
Legislation authorizing construction of a proposed $227 million Tacoma-Seattle-Everett toll road was to be signed into law by Gov. Arthur Langlie. The legislation was considered one of the major accomplishments of the 1955 Legislature.
Something new in school construction was used at the new Maple Park Elementary School in south Snohomish County area. Associated Sand and Gravel was swinging 20-ton, pre-cast girders into place to hold the pre-cast concrete roof.
25 years ago (1980)
Citizens Bank at 10th Street and State Avenue in Marysville planned its grand opening over the weekend. The locally-owned community bank had a drive-through window open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
