50 years ago (1955)
Twelve pin spotters were installed at Evergreen Bowling Lanes, only the fifth alley in the state to install the machines.
Peggy Hodge, a senior in Snohomish High School’s journalism class and a staff member on the school paper, The Arrowhead, was one of the national winners in Quill and Scroll’s December writing contest with an editorial on “Is the U.N. All Turmoil and Disagreement?” Hodge was eligible to compete for the society’s 1955 scholarship award.
25 years ago (1980)
General Hospital of Everett appointed two nursing coordinators and two department heads. Nurith Benitez was coordinator of psychiatric services, and Anita Mead was coordinator of surgical services. Marian Nelson was director of education, and Loren Vixie was director of respiratory services.
Jim Smith of Everett was recognized as the leading special agent for Prudential Insurance Co. in the Northwest. The Everett office, under division manager Barry Wallis, was the leading detached office for Prudential in the West and ranked third in the country.
