50 years ago (1964)
Mr. and Mrs. George Brinkley would be honored on their 65th wedding anniversary at their home 3216 Broadway. Alma Dutilly and George Brinkley were married April 12, 1899 at Cumberland, Wis. They also lived in Shell Lake, Wis., before coming to Everett in 1941.
Two busloads of 64 Junior High Camp Fire Girls from nine groups traveled via Greyhound Bus to Fort Casey and Deception Pass. Among those making the trip were Marilyn Bunch, Paul Matthews and Walayn Oke.
25 years ago (1989)
Sara Spierting and Matt Spierting, both of Everett, recently went through the trainee program at the U.S. Space Academy in Huntsville, Ala. The academy offered the advanced, college-accredited 10-day program to high school students.
One of the signs of spring was the coming NASCAR Northwest Tour, ready to open the automobile racing season at Monroe’s Evergreen Speedway with a 100-lap tonight. Four years ago the Tour was launched as an experiment, a series designed to bridge the gap between local stock car racing and the big-money Winston West circuit.
