50 years ago (1955)
Everett artist Walter Albertzard’s painting, “Homeward Journey,” was accepted for display in the Woessner Gallery in Seattle. He won an award with a larger version of the painting in the Everett Art League’s ninth annual exhibit of amateur painters showing in the Everett Public Library auditorium.
Pvt. Richard Rancourt, son of Emery Rancourt of Everett, was selected as colonel’s orderly for the regimental commander, Col. Franklin Sibert of the 20th Infantry, Fort Ord, Calif.
25 years ago (1980)
House-building skills of 29 carpentry students of Everett and Cascade high schools produced an energy-conscious, fully insulated, two-story, three-bedroom home with a view of the Cascades. Located at 5119 View Drive, the home was for sale for $109,000. The project was financed by the Everett Rotary Club through local banking institutions, Rotarian Kirke Sievers said. Jim Drake was the instructor.
Kham Phompanya, Kitty Phonosouk, Sahn Tran and Asher Go were among Everett students who toured Everett General Hospital. Roseanne Cohn was the tour guide. The tour was part of an English as a second language program designed to help refugees adjust to their new home.
