50 years ago (1955)
Getting acquainted while wearing some of the new fashions for children that would be featured in the junior division of the Georgia McFarland Guild style show and tea this Friday were four young models for the event. They were Jimmy Bradford, 12; Betty Shuh, 11; Paula Sevenich, 4; and Gloria Jean Moe, 3.
Miramae Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Murphy of Arlington and a senior at Arlington High School, took the highest award in this year’s Good Citizenship contest for Snohomish County. The contest was sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
25 years ago (1980)
The Downtown Everett Kiwanis Club today hosted the organization’s annual spring zone conference at the Everett Elks Club. About 50 clubs from three counties were represented, according to president Russ Juckett. The conference trained incoming officers who would assume responsibilities in September.
More trails, camping and fishing might be in the future of Wallace Falls State Park near Gold Bar. State Park Commission spokesman Tom France said that the commission had approved purchase of about 200 acres to be added to the 518 acres now in the park.
