50 years ago (1955)
Present at the past president’s luncheon of Everett Central Lions Club were: Vic Johnson, Maurice Coy, Dave Wiggins, E.O. Arnold, Harold Cosser, Leo Mullen, Leo June, Larry Gourlie, Jim Love, Larry Porter, Al Tunem, Adrian Hulbert, Lee Douglas and Clarence Browning.
Old Guard Post, VFW, was making available copies of The Pledge of Allegiance to every school classroom in the city. Orvie Lange, principal of Washington School, showed one of the pledges to fourth-graders Suzanne Fowlds and Ann Nurmi, as their teacher, Louise Saunders, looked on.
25 years ago (1980)
The Snohomish County Action Coalition of Disabled Citizens was meeting at Everett Community College. The newly formed group encouraged political, social and athletic activities for disabled people. Ceil Casper, Kathi Richard-Schantz, Diane Cantor or Bonnie Williams could be called for information.
Monroe High’s team tallied the most answers to win the finals of the Hi-Q quiz program and the $1,500 first prize. It was Monroe’s first championship. Members of the team were Elizabeth Moberg, Ken Virla, John Biderbost, Holly Davis, Ann Axtman and Scott Wood.
