50 years ago (1955)
Three foreign language teachers were offering classes at Everett Junior College. Edmere Robarge, a French, Spanish and Latin teacher at Everett High School, would teach French. Ilse Locke would teach German. John Raffin would teach Spanish.
Cascade Chapter, Order of DeMolay, was holding installation of officers at the Masonic Temple. Allen Kelley would be installed as master councilor.
25 years ago (1980)
Up to 6 inches of snow fell on Everett and Seattle. Some of the worst traffic tie-ups occurred at the I-5 and I-405 interchange. Residents of Cavalero’s Hill on E. Hewitt Avenue left their cars at the bottom of the hill and walked home.
Darrington saw itself on TV. The mountain community was a star in “High Ice,” starring David Jannsen and filmed the previous summer by a Hollywood film crew, E.S.J. Productions. Twenty town residents took part as extras. Townspeople had gathered around the community center, sometimes by the hundreds, during filming.
