50 years ago (1955)
Bill Mackey Jr. and his father were gearing up for the upcoming Soapbox Derby. Young Bill was starting all over from the wheels up after competing in last year’s race here. Bill Sr., according to derby rules, could give his son advice, but could not help build any of the car’s parts.
Gene Nastri was presenting his grade school violinists in concert this Friday in the Civic Auditorium. Dancers in the program included Katherine McLean, Barbara Rudge and Genie Nastri. In addition Bob Kelley would entertain with his band.
25 years ago (1980)
Barbara Knowles, board member of Washington Association of Christian Adoptive Parents was to address the 24th annual Interclub Dinner of Everett’s women’s service organizations. Norma Sea, past president of Altrusa Club, would serve as Toastmistress. Amy Goshen, current president of Altrusa, would share head table honors with Ethel Morgan of Business and Professional Women, Barbara Aken of Soroptimist and Barbara Earl of Zonta.
Dorothy Price Deisher of Everett and Margaret Stewart Morrow of Camano Island were among those who would receive 50-year pins at the Founders’ Day luncheon of Alpha Xi Delta Saturday at Sunday’s Restaurant in Seattle.
