50 years ago (1955)
The H.O. Seiffert Co., having done business in Everett since 1898, got a facelift at its Hewitt Avenue location. Proud of the job were Roy Sievers, president; John Sievers, vice president; and Harold Sievers, secretary-treasurer.
The newly installed exalted ruler of the Everett Elks Lodge was George Joyce. The first event of the lodge under the direction of its new leader would be the annual Easter egg hunt at Forest Park.
25 years ago (1980)
With Mount St. Helens spitting and fuming, interest in volcanoes had increased. Everett Community College geology instructor Vern Tovrea, in cooperation with the Everett parks and recreation department, would teach the one-evening class “The Geology of Hawaii” at Legion Hall in north Everett.
The Biker’s Ideal Kinematic Exploration Society, a local bicycle touring group, had several tours coming up. One was to start and end in Everett and go through Granite Falls, Monroe and Snohomish. An overnighter was planned to Port Townsend.
