50 years ago (1955)
The Women’s Benefit Association, Everett Review No. 2, presented gold pins to five 50-year members at a meeting celebrating the 61st anniversary of the group. Those honored were Leona Walters, Jessie Mead, Anne Treadwell, Georgia Winklesky and Della Metzger. Pearl Van Winkle was president.
Architect John Bryant Jr. announced the association of Robert Butterfield with his firm on Evergreen Way. Butterfield was the eldest son of C.E. Butterfield, former pastor of Bethany Temple. He and his wife, Maxine (Conklin), and their son, Steven, had recently purchased a house on Morgan Road.
25 years ago (1980)
Everett was sending street equipment to Chehalis to help remove volcanic ash from the Mount St. Helens eruption. There was at least an inch of ash on the ground there. Public works director Herb Boushey said three city employees would go to Lewis County with the equipment.
Gail Stowell of Realty Consultants in Everett was to be installed as president of the Pilchuck Business and Professional Women’s Club at its banquet at the Cascade Club. Other new officers were Violette Osborn, Diana Schmiett, Maria Lindstrom and Christine Hargitt.
