The following banks announced they would be staying open until 6 p.m. on Fridays: First National Bank of Everett and its Hoyt and Lynnwood branches; Everett Trust and Savings; the Everett branch of Peoples National Bank of Washington; Marysville State Bank; Arlington State Bank; Citizens State Bank of Arlington; First National Bank of Stanwood; National Bank of East Stanwood and its Darrington branch.
The Oldsmobile was one of the few 1955 car makes that had not been completely redesigned. TV star Stan Boreson was helping show off the cars at Dolloff Motor Co.
25 years ago (1979)
According to a 1972 law, Everett should have no more than one tavern for every 1,000 residents. The city had at least six too many bars.
The county was studying a proposed Hewlett-Packard plant. If approved, the electronics firm would be allowed to build on rural property northeast northwest of Lake Stevens.
