50 years ago (1954)
New Chrysler Corporation automobiles went on display. New Chryslers were in the showroom of Everett Auto Co. DeSotos could be seen at Schille Motors. New Dodges were at Walsh Platt Motor Co. Plymouths were available at all three dealerships.
Robert Bates, superintendent of Marysville schools, and high school principal Donald Fowler were enjoying the progress at the high school. Its enrollment had increased to 559 and it was expanding its buildings at a cost of $368,092.
25 years ago (1979)
The public was invited to an eye-opening grand opening at Columbian Optical in a new brick building at 3802 Colby Ave. Frames by world-renowned designers Pierre Cardin, Geoffry Bean, Gloria Vanderbilt, Lanvin and Elizabeth Arden were available. Those who purchased more than one pair of frames and lenses were offered $20 off each additional set.
