R.J. Leroux, manager of the Weyerhaeuser pulp division in Everett, reported that the “vaposphere” installed 10 months before at the kraft mill had reduced objectionable odor by 90 percent. The huge spheroid was constructed atop the digester building.
Snohomish Gun Club planned a turkey shoot near Clearview with trapshooting. Besides the 10-bird events, there would be a 50-bird handicap shoot, secretary Earl Averill said.
25 years ago (1979)
The Langley football team concluded its regular season with a 9-0 record, drubbing the Tolt Demons 36-0. The Falcons, third-ranked in the state A poll, advanced to the first round of the state playoffs. They would face North Mason at Arlington. Key players were Bob Iddins, Wayne Hughes and Charlie Davies.
