50 years ago (1954)
City officials were pondering how they would develop a new play field on Laurel Drive on a skeleton budget. Visiting the Rucker Hill property were Mayor C. Arvid Johnson; Walter Hall, parks superintendent; Parker Gallaspy, street commissioner; Sig McCumby, public works commissioner; and George Culmback, finance commissioner.
Santa got a helping hand when the Auxiliary to Old Guard Post of the VFW presented a “broken toy” matinee. The toys would be fixed up for needy children for Christmas. Bob Sumbardo presented a magic act for June Cohen, Sandy Mathews, Shelly Kallstrom, Kenny Rasmussen, Douglas Longuager, Rickey Longauger and Earline Ray.
25 years ago (1979)
Snohomish Commercial Realty Inc. had established an office at Cascade Savings Financial Center, Suite 430, in Everett. President Garry Pagon of Snohomish said the company would offer services to investors, owners and users of commercial property. The broker was Wayne Daniels of Lake Stevens.
Colby House, a 20-unit condo at 32nd Street and Colby Avenue, featured wood-burning fireplaces in each unit, installed appliances, underground parking with remote-control gates, a security lobby, extra storage and electric heat.
