50 years ago (1954)
“Floradora” card party members gathered to make final arrangements for the Soroptomists’ annual event. Discussing plans were Lisbeth Masi, president of the local group, along with Myra Swedberg, Hazel Eckstrom, Margaret Stenwick, Betty LeGros and Frances Kuse.
Studebaker-Packard, the world’s fourth-largest producer of cars and trucks, announced the 1955 Studebakers. Models included the President V-8, new Commander V-8 and big new Champion. They were on display at Fowler Motors, 3025 Rucker Ave.
25 years ago (1979)
A baby shower to benefit Pregnancy Aid would be at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2913 Norton St. Sponsors were Everett Council 763 K.C. and Court of St. Rita, Catholic Daughters of America. Gifts of baby clothing, diapers and furniture were being accepted. Roberta Wolcott was representing Pregnancy Aid.
The old Hart mansion at 35th Street and Federal Avenue was for sale. The hilltop colonial estate on approximately an acre of rolling lawn had a view of downtown and Port Gardiner Bay. Its asking price was $349,000, as advertised by Benton-McCarthy Realty.
