50 years ago (1954)
At last, the bottleneck at Marysville was cleared as the east lanes of the new highway from Ebey Slough to Stimson’s Crossing were opened. Warren Quast was master of ceremonies. Gov. Arthur Langlie attended. The entire four-lane route from Everett to Stimson’s Crossing wouldn’t be open until spring.
Ingeborg Bolstad and Eleanor Schaeffer’s third-graders at Longfellow School enjoyed viewing an American Indian exhibit displaying authentic artifacts. Among the students were Carol Mathews, Tyron Chrest, Nina Hutchinson and Peter Johanson.
25 years ago (1979)
Margaret Stevenson was director of the newly formed management services division at the Snohomish County PUD. She was responsible for the PUD’s legal and legislative activities, real estate operations, and communications such as word processing, telecommunications and in-house printing and mailing.
The Lynnwood Kitchen and Bath store, owned by Wes Crossman, opened at 19710 Highway 99. It featured kitchen cabinets, appliances, kitchen design services, countertops and remodeling plans. On display were several samples of Crossman’s work when he was a kitchen designer in Europe.
