50 years ago (1954)
Classes in Everett schools would start tomorrow. The schools had several new additions including View Ridge School, a new addition to Whittier School and new shops and a bus garage on Everett Avenue.
Security Benefit Life Insurance Co. announced the appointment of Hugh Robbers as associate general agent in Everett. Robbers would be associated with Gerald Wiggins, who represented the company in the area. J.H. Abrahams, president of the firm, made the announcement.
25 years ago (1979)
Edward DeBroeck was named general accounting manager for the Snohomish County Public Utility District. He was responsible for maintaining the PUD’s accounting records and an efficient financial reporting system. He came to Snohomish County from the LaClede Gas Co. in St. Louis, Mo.
The South Snohomish Chamber of Commerce took a tour of the soon-to-open Alderwood Mall following lunch at Lundberg’s Turning Point restaurant in the LandMark Inn.
Dean Echelbarger, chairman of the chamber’s economic development committee, headed the program. Jim King, general manager of the new mall, and assistant manager Linda Blake served as tour guides. The mall was scheduled to open Oct. 4.
