50 years ago (1954)
June Hall, a member of the Visiting Nurse Association, donned an apron presented her by the Gardner Bay Grandmothers Club when they met at the Everett Public Library auditorium. Taking part in the presentation were Marie Kimble, club president; Rose Landers, first vice president; and Tillie Kuehn, second vice president.
Reuben Larson, of 1809 Oakes Ave. in Everett, had a strange-looking goldfish. It had apparently swallowed a seed or piece of pond weed about two months before and now sprouted a weed out its left nostril. Despite the noseful of weed, the fish was healthy and able to eat.
25 years ago (1979)
As the population of Marysville increased, so would the number of parks, recreational areas and open spaces under a new plan adopted by the City Council. The council established a builder fee of $327 per dwelling unit on new development to acquire recreational property for the city.
A tour of an unusual solar home in Edmonds was arranged by the Snohomish County League of Women Voters. The home, owned by George and Jo Yount, featured a solar panel water system.
