50 years ago (1954)
KTNT-TV, Channel 11, notified the Everett Chamber of Commerce that it planned to salute Everett on Sept. 25. The local CBS affiliate would feature Everett with 10-second announcements during the day and one-minute announcements in the evening.
After operating many years at 2625 Colby Ave., Sig Follestad was moving his auto dealership one block north to 2525 Colby Ave. The public was invited in to see the Nash Airflyte, Ambassador, Statesman and Rambler models.
25 years ago (1979)
Tom Borgford, a member of The Herald’s news staff for 24 years, was named information manager for General Telephone of the Northwest. Bill Hill, information director, said the appointment was effective immediately. Borgford succeeded Dick Welch, who was named local government representative for GTE’s northern area in Kirkland.
Dallas McCurley was hired by Everett Community College to rebuild the dance department to the level Mike Jordan left it when he resigned the year before. McCurley was a former dancer with the Joffrey Ballet and the Dallas Civic Ballet. She hoped to round out a full dance program with en pointe, men’s ballet, modern dance and advanced jazz and tap classes.
