50 years ago (1954)
Competition at Everett Golf &Country Club was on nine even holes. Art Greene paced the first division with 301/2, trailed by Art Torkelson at 31 and Vern Haines at 321/2. Paul Peterson won the second division with 29 while Otis Almvig, Ross Earlywine and Tom McCrea tied for second place with 32. Leo June’s 291/2 won the third division. Earl Mackey and Rus Farrington tied for second with 32.
Sonotone, Everett’s first hearing aid office, offered a new aid with a built-in amplifier so you could hear better on the phone. Sonotone’s offices were in Rooms 212 and 213 of the Colby Building.
25 years ago (1979)
Volunteers at Everett General Hospital were honored during a Christmas awards luncheon at the Yacht Club. Chloris Briggs and Elizabeth Muncaster were recognized for 1,000 hours of volunteer service. Doris Mahnke and June Richardson had given 500 hours of time.
Pete San Cartier was expecting another great wrestling season at Lynnwood High School. Last year, he placed fifth in state. Much of what he had learned came from watching older brother Paul.
