50 years ago (1954)
The Everett Rotary Club was sending Fred Heintz, Dr. Ross Earlywine and Stanton Hall as delegates to the International Rotary Convention in Seattle.
Rex Haynie, who was promoted to manager of the J.C. Penney store in McMinnville, Ore., announced his replacement in Snohomish would be Jack Walker. Walker was notified at the Cle Elum store. He had purchased a new home at Seventh Street and Avenue K.
25 years ago (1979)
Barbara Lamoureux, office manager for Judd and Black Electric, was honored as Woman of the Year by the Mountain View chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. She would represent her group at the national convention in Minneapolis.
Camp Volasuca, the Volunteers of America summer camp in Sultan, was swinging into its 26th year of providing camping for children and handicapped people. Activities included softball, soccer, swimming, crafts, hiking, campfires and fishing on 75 acres of land adjacent to the main complex. Registration forms and other information were available at the Volunteers office at 2801 Lombard Ave.
