50 years ago (1954)
Businesses offered two hours of free parking in the new lot above the First National Bank of Everett’s drive-in. The businesses included Dr. Vince Martinis, Black &King, Chaffee’s Petershagen &Sons, Holmes Candy, Peterson’s Thor Shop, Everett Travel Bureau, Owl Drug, United Realty, Elgin Cafeteria, Alley’s Camera, Carruthers &Whitehead, Sport Shop, J&E Food, Swarm Hardware, Cuthbertson Luggage, Hy-Lo Fashion and Home Shoe Store.
The Larson’s Paints team won the city Little League championship. Mike Furiak coached the team. Team members were Paul Larson, Dennis Reed, David Merrick, Bobby Trosvig, Craig Borsheim, Jack Ramsey, Dale Bernhardt, Richard Borsheim, David Johnson, Nels Beam, Jack Hilton and Mike Peterson.
25 years ago (1979)
Construction had begun on Parkridge, a 114-unit condominium on a 5-acre site in southeast Everett. The $5.5 million project was being built near Puget Business Park at 128th Street SW and Gibson Road, near the Everett Holiday Inn and Mariner High School.
Marysville’s recently announced Kmart Plaza shopping center would be open by summer 1980. The building of a new B&M supermarket and shopping center was expected to be finished soon after that.
