50 years ago (1964)
Weyerhaeuser was to build another saw mill here — Mill D, between Mill C and Highway 99. Looking over the site were Ted Fuller, construction superintendent and R. K. Headly, branch manager. Designed for small logs, it would cost about $500,000.
The temperature sign at Everett Trust and Savings Bank on Colby Avenue read a chilling 5 degrees. An icy wind that made even the warmest overcoat seem tissue thin plunged county thermometers during the night. It was minus 3 in Darrington.
25 years ago (1989)
Fotini Evans of Everett celebrated her 91st birthday on Dec. 12 and said it was her best birthday ever. She received dozens of gifts, cards, calls and visits from family and friends. An active lady, she rode her exercise bicycle at least 20 minutes a day.
Nathan Hamlin, who was born yesterday to Howard and Tracy Hamlin of Marysville at Everett General Hospital Medical Center, had some special people sharing his Dec. natal day. His father was born that same day in 1950 at General. His grandfather Otto Hamlin of Granite Falls had a Dec. 15 birthday. Dr. Clifford Roger, who delivered Nathan also celebrated his birthday yesterday.
