50 years ago (1954)
In appreciation for a bequest made to Evergreen Area Boy Scouts of America in his will, the main lodge at Lake Connor would be named in honor of E.B. Wight. Doyle Watt with United Good Neighbors would deliver the main address.
Everett High School girls attending Evergreen Girls State in Ellensburg were Janis Andreason, Susan Green, Brook Miller, Marlys Thompson and Anita Papritz.
25 years ago (1979)
Charley Beath was willing to bet that people in Lynnwood wanted another convenience grocery store. He wanted to convert his service station at 196th Street SW and 48th Avenue W. to a car wash and mini-mart. More than 1,000 apartment units were within a half-mile.
Meadowdale High School senior Kim MacLeod won three scholarships. They were from Associated Sand and Gravel, Lynnwood Elks and Normanna Lodge. She planned to study journalism and music at the University of Washington. She was class salutatorian, on the staffs of the yearbook and newspaper, and a tenor saxophone player.
