50 years ago (1954)
“Resolved,” a young red checker pigeon from the loft of R.D. Wallenberg, won the first Young Bird race of the season staged by the Everett Racing Pigeon Club. Competing lofts were those of F.J. Van Roeyen, E.F. Anderson, Sam Michelson, L.W. Pickard, O.W. Walker, R. Rhoades, Allen Brooks, W. Hoftell and Tom McGhie.
A county motor roller smoothed out a coating of asphalt on the new road to Mountlake Terrace. Crews were putting down about a mile and a half of asphalt paving on the new road (220th Street SW) running from Highway 99 to the ever-growing south county community.
25 years ago (1979)
Constance Herring was named manager of Rainier Bank’s Mukilteo office. She formerly was assistant cashier and installment contract loan manager at the bank’s Aurora Village office. Jeanette Moore, an Everett resident and former manager of the Mukilteo office, was named assistant vice president and manager at Aurora Village.
The Town Hall Celebrity Lecture Series, sponsored by the Everett Opera Guild and Medical Auxiliary, received tremendous support for the second year of its program. Honoring the Year of the Child, a $500 check was presented to the Luther Child Center.
