Emergency telephone service to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was being expedited for subscribers in the Alderwood Manor and Edmonds exchanges, said Sheriff Tom Warnock and John Gilday, district commercial superintendent for West Coast Telephone Co.
Matt Wiggum was elective vice president of District No. 2 Sons of Norway. Also chosen to represent Normanna Lodge at the lodge convention in Seattle were J. Henry Carlson and Mary Melhous. Elsa Johnson and Doris Hansen were making arrangements for the upcoming strawberry social.

Marysville baritone Boyd Schlaefer, who just received a master’s degree from the University of Southern California, was giving a recital in Everett’s First Baptist Church.
A pair of Marysville-Pilchuck High School students and their coach would sample wrestling during a European tour. Greg Farley and Randy Hestop, and coach Rick Iverson, would be part of a team from Washington that would compete in Hungary. Other potential stops were Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey and Romania.
