50 years ago (1954)
Robinson Marine Division in the 1900 block of Norton Avenue was hosting a boat show. Featured were Bryant boats, Reinell boats, Fibercraft boats, Holsclaw trailers, Velrob skis (manufactured in Everett), Prepo equipment, Fiberlay equipment, Woolsey paints and marine accessories.
The Silver King Cafe at 1101 First St. in Snohomish was being renovated in preparation for reopening July 1 by the new owners of the business, the E.C. Sibley family. They also had purchased the residence at 111 Ave. A from Emma Renwald. The Sibleys’ son, Gene, would be the chef.
25 years ago (1979)
Helen Wilbur, office manager of Chaffee’s women’s apparel store for several years, was elected president of the Everett chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants. A member of the Zonta Club at Faith Lutheran Church, she was also on the advisory accounting board at Edmonds Community College. She succeeded Marge Wojtowick of Lynnwood.
Two major accounting firms, Main Lafrentz &Co. (with an office in Everett’s Seattle-First National Bank building) and Hurdman and Cranstoun announced they had agreed to combine their firms to form Main Hurdman and Cranstoun.
