Members of the graduating class of Providence Hospital School of Nursing discussed the dance to be given in their honor at Paine AFB Officers Club. Among the graduates were Jane Dammond, Pansy Robinson and Theresa Helmcke. Also present were Dr. and Mrs. S.M. Bissell. Tickets could be purchased in advance from Esther Mae Anderson, Lillian Ward or Loraine Hartson.
Mary Morris, a graduate of Marysville High School, received scholastic honors at the University of Washington where she was a senior. She was initiated into Pi Lambda Theta Sorority, a national education honorary for women, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, a national scholastic honorary.
Disc jockey Lee "Emperor" Smith, a regional legend, was now on the familiar morning drive time slot (6-10 a.m.) on Everett’s KRKO (1380 AM). Alter ego "Granny Paine" was still part of his program.
Listing water, dogs, streets and sewers as her top priorities, Barbara Alexander was seated as Granite Falls’ mayor. She succeeded Robert Thompkins.
