50 years ago (1954)
The Everett Junior College Choraliers were presenting a recital at North Junior High School. The concert was under the direction of Rodney Berg. Assisting were soloists Sharon Craig and June Kosbab.
To give the boys building “bugs” to compete in the Soap Box Derby in July an idea of how a well-constructed entry was put together, Hank Ryer demonstrated his racer. The demonstration was one of the highlights of a clinic sponsored at the Boys Club by the Everett Chamber of Commerce.
25 years ago (1979)
American Legionnaire Bill Reed of Snohomish helped place flags on the graves of veterans at the GAR Snohomish cemetery. Special casket-size flags waved along the main avenues of the graveyard. This was typical of how county communities were honoring those who had served their country.
Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers was opening its first Everett outlet at 7414 Evergreen Way, across from the Everett Motor Movie. Ron Engeldinger was manager of a staff of up to 50 full- and part-time employees. It was the county’s second Wendy’s, the first being in Lynnwood.
