First Friends Church at 23rd Street and Wetmore Avenue was holding services to note its 50th anniversary. Alma Kines was leading a program on the church’s history.
Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Parish of Marysville invited the public to attend its spaghetti dinner and games party. The event would be staged at the Priest Point Grange Hall on Tulalip Road.
Scott Butner, 20, thought young people had the best solutions to problems on Colby Avenue. He said he believed that Everett’s youth had concerns for the city’s future, and was organizing a meeting at the Everett library.
Like the rest of the area, Stanwood was having trouble getting gasoline. To make matters worse, the town that had eight gas stations two years ago was now down to five, including Allen Norback’s Texaco, Cal Templeton’s Union 76 and Norman Faith’s Time Oil Jackpot.
