50 years ago (1964)
Dr. Vince A. Martinis, chair of the Everett area National Foundation-March of Dimes, accepted a contribution check in the amount of $281.91 from Gary Casperson and Judy Clough, co-chairs of Everett High School’s annual March of Dimes Drive.
Honored by Troop 25 at Faith Lutheran Church, two young Evergreen Junior High students, Jen Kuljurgis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kuljurigis, and Dennis Koster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Koster, were presented the outstanding Eagle Scout Award.
25 years ago (1989)
About 200 former state regents of the Washington State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was gathered at the Everett Pacific Hotel for a three-day conference. The organization was made up of direct descendents of patriots who served the cause of the Revolution.
High school and middle school students in the Everett School District were no longer required to take showers after physical education classes. While the district encouraged showering for good grooming, students could now determine if they should shower. Board President Sue Cooper and member Shirley Vandermeer said they were pleased with the change.
