50 years ago (1954)
The annual summer instruction course at Everett Golf and Country Club wound up with a tournament in which Arlene Anderson took first among the girls and Shari Billesbach and Irene Skotdal tied for second. Paul Peterson led the boys, with George Ellis second.
Members of the Alderwood Manor Playday committee worked over their plans for this year’s celebration at the Alderwood Youth Club. On the committee were John Kukuk, William Tibke, Harry Roberts, Joan Heeter, Mary Moffett, Earl Martin, Mae Kukuk and Willard Baker.
25 years ago (1979)
The Snohomish Indian Tribe was researching tribal history. Anyone with knowledge of the tribe’s past was asked to contribute information.
Sunset Avenue residents in Edmonds had some of the best views the city could offer. However, what they had been seeing recently was rude, lewd and obnoxious teenagers. Neighbors said the closing of Union Oil Beach and Sunset Beach in the early evening moved the problem up to Sunset between Main and Casper streets. They petitioned the City Council to limit traffic circulation on the street.
