Representing Snohomish County YMCA clubs at the annual youth and government program in Olympia were Myrna Pierson, Pat Anderson, Barbara Markham, Beverly Johnson, Joni Calkins, Susan Cassell, Phil Johnson, Henry Newton and Dick Oberg.
George Newland purchased the Culmback Building at 3015-17 Colby Ave. and planned to remodel it, keeping the Faber Hotel. West Coast Telephone purchased from Joseph Hart a building at 2807-09 Rockefeller Ave. that had been occupied by the Sears Farm Store. George Walker was erecting a new building at 1507 Hewitt Ave. Field’s, renamed the Treasure House, was moving to 2926 Colby Ave., where GallenKamp’s used to be.
Nearly 300 people were cited for offenses over the weekend during the Everett Police Department’s latest emphasis patrol on Colby Avenue cruisers. One of those cited was from Fargo, N.D., and another was from Calgary, Alberta.
Missing from the Edmonds Public Library was Sheva, a cat that had been sitting on the book return desk for about four years. She was removed because of complaints from people allergic to cats, library board chairwoman Shirley Betham said. Sheva now lived with head librarian Kathy Turner.
